Mountain View County Council - Division 3

About Me

Seeking re-election for Division 3.

For those that do not know who I am, my name is Alan Miller. I am a 4th generation resident of Mountain View County that was raised on a family farm 2 miles north of Didsbury, where we raised a variety of animals but primarily focused on cream quota dairy cattle. I was a member of the West Didsbury 4H club in my youth.

I graduated from Didsbury High School in 1983 and married my wife Shawna (née Krebs) in 1994. Although we decided to walk away from the farming lifestyle, we raised a family on an acreage 3 miles north of Didsbury, where we still reside. Our 2 sons, Cody and Blake, also grew up in Didsbury, and both graduated from DHS.

For almost 26 years I have owned and operated my own construction business, AMAX Exteriors Ltd., in the Mountain View County area.

Councilor Highlights

Overall, I consider my last 4 years on council a success that I intend to build on.

My Top 3 (in no particular order):

  • Lobbying the Provincial government with the RMA for a pause on renewable energy implementation on farm land.
  • Lobbying the Provincial government with the RMA for added veterinary funding at the University of Calgary.
  • Working with other councilors to allow tendering of county-owned land leases to our residents.
